8 points to improve your meditation experience

1. Meditation is relaxed awareness - the idea is to relax and allow yourself to go deep enough that the state will be healing, while still maintaining a level of conscious awareness.

1a. When dealing with the vastness of the mind, there are always examples that do not follow the standard, however, even in void meditation as taught in the mystery school, as there is an aspect of consciousness that enters the void.

2. Not every meditation is going to feel like a great meditation, in fact, the ones where it might be difficult to sit still are often points of growth.

3. Finding your seat - this is not as important as one might think when starting out as a meditator - sit comfortably and try to commit to one position. This can also become part of the mental exercise of learning to train your focus, but if it becomes excruciating, it's probably better to adjust.

4. The breath is one of the most important aspects of meditation and softer breathing with less control over the breath is the direction that one would want to move toward.

5. The mystery school teaches meditation in chairs, there is an energetic reason for this; because in a chair, your head is in the etheric energy of a space. Etheric energy starts at approximately three feet above any surface - usually the floor or the ground. Whereas magnetic energy can be found from the ground up to the area where etheric energy begins. Therefore, meditation seated on a cushion on the floor is in the magnetic energy field. Meditation in either field serves a specific purpose and both are valid ways to meditate and gain benefits of meditation.

6. If your mind races, contrary to what you might think, it is because you don't have enough energy/chi/qi to control your mental focus.

This is why energy-based practices like yoga, tai chi, and qigong are integrated into many meditation practices. Yoga (even just a small amount over time) will also strengthen the back muscles along the spinal cord, so that it becomes easy to sit up straight while being simultaneously relaxed - which is the ideal posture for meditation so that energy can freely transit the spinal cord.

7. The importance of a teacher. As mentioned in other areas of the site, there is a balance between carving out a dedicated daily practice - and this more than likely will be a solo practice and it is why recordings can be valid and helpful ways to practice - and sitting with a teacher. Since meditation is, in some respects, just sitting still, it might be difficult to justify the time and trouble of seeking out an in-person experience of sitting with a teacher. However, a teacher can not only provide support and guidance but also, and more importantly, a strong teacher can guide the students to deeper levels of meditation using the process of entrainment. Entrainment is when a student links to the frequency of the teacher during meditation. Entrainment goes beyond language to provide an experience that books can never convey. Meditation in a mystery school guided meditation or workshop is different from sitting directly with a teacher in meditation; however, in the workshop, the teacher holds the energy needed for the experience and both are valuable ways to strengthen the meditation experience.

8. It's hard to remember, but initially, I might have been diligent about my meditation practice hoping to have an experience like a rainbow body. In the end, meditation made me notably more productive, so the hour spent meditating more than paid for itself and I came to realize that it is more about the journey. However, similar to what was mentioned in the previous point, my meditation jumped more than 10x; and the "experiences" that I had hoped for (short of a rainbow body), were finally accessible to me once I started meditating with the mystery school.

One of the foundational meditation classes, Sacred Geometry I, opens fundamental meditation gates within the auric field that will greatly improve the depth of the meditation experience. Prior to the mystery school going public in 1997, these practices were hidden from the public, and also not available to "house-holders" ie. everyday citizens.
